William Michael Boes 1904-1998

Mass of the Christian burial for William M. Boes of Breda will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at St. Bernard Church in Breda.

Mr. Boes, 93, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Boes' son, the Rev. Clair Boes, and the Rev. James Smith will officiate the Mass. Bishop Lawrence D. Soens will conduct the Prayers of Final Commendation.

Lectors will be Catherine Pudenz, Kelsey Schreier and Scott Malone. Gift Bearers will be Mr. Boes' daughters; Myrna Snyder, Carol Malone and Susan Schreier.

His sons and sons-in-law will be casket bearers: Duane Boes, Dennis Boes, Ardel Boes, Eldon Boes, Merlin Boes and Clair Snyder.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery at Breda.

He was born Oct. 21, 1904, at Wall Lake, a son of John and Anna (Geier) Boes, attended rural school and St. Bernard School and spent most of his life on his family's farm northwest of Breda.

He and Laura Engel were married May 17, 1932, at St. Joseph Church in Wall Lake.

They farmed northwest of Breda until 1979, when they moved to their home in Breda.

Mr. Boes was a member of St. Bernard Parish, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Breda Senior Citizens Club. He was a trustee for Viola Township and the parish and also served on boards for the Sac County ASCS, country schools and the Farmers Home Administration.

Survivors include his wife, Laura, of Breda; nine children: Myra Snyder and her husband, Clair, of Breda, Duane Boes and his wife, Joan, of Fort Collins, Colo., Dennis Boes and his wife, Jan, of Lake Sherwood, Mo., Ardel Boes and his wife, Mary, of Golden, Colo., the Rev. Clair Boes of Storm Lake, Eldon Boes and his wife, Joan, of Alexandria, Va., Carol Malone and her husband, Barry, of Omaha, Neb., Merlin Boes and his wife, Connie, of Austin Minn., and Susan Schreier and her husband Dennis, of Roscoe, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Romain Boes, and his wife, Ceal, of Carroll.

Mr. Boes was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren: Brett Boes and Chad W. Malone; six brothers; Herbert, Julius, Aloyius, Leonard, Cletus and Rev. Norbert Boes, and a sister, Eleanora Steinkamp.
