Mrs. William D. (Rose Hackfort) Nieland, 74, of Carroll died at 6:50 p.m. Monday Jan 10, at the Spieker Nursing Home where she had resided for the past year. Arrangements are pending at Twit Funeral Home. (Burial at Holy Angels Cemetery at Roselle.)

A lifelong resident of Carroll County, Mrs. Nieland was born Aug. 26, 1891, at Templeton, a daughter of Frank and Mary Hoffman. She received her education at Templeton. On Sept. 14, 1915, she married John Hackfort, who died Sept 26, 1926. The Rev. John G. Gehling preformed the ceremony in Holy Angels Church, Roselle. Her marriage to Mr. Nieland took place Feb 18, 1941. She was a member of Holy Spirit Women's Guild. She had been ill since November 1964.

Mrs. Nieland is survived by her husband; two sons, Herman and Lambert Hackfort, Carroll; two daughers, Mrs. Paul (Mercedes) Fasbender, Carroll, and Mrs. Arlo (Jeanette) Jons, Westside; 17 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Klocke, Heaton, N.D.; Mercedes Hoffman, Roselle; and Mrs. Theodore (Catherine) Gehling, Carroll; two brothers, Peter Hoffman, Cottonwood, Minn., and Frank Hoffman, Chapman, Neb.
