LeRoy Joseph Kraus 1950-1981

LeRoy J. Kraus, 31, of Omaha, formerly of Carroll, died Tuesday, May 2, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a few weeks illness.

He was a supervisor at the Omaha branch of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24th and Poppleton, in Omaha.

Visitation at the John A. Gentleman Mortuary, 3411 Farnham in Omaha, will be after 9 a.m. Thursday. A rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit church in Carroll with the Rev. Roger Augustine, V.F., officiating. Visitation at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll will be after 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery in Carroll. Brothers will act as pallbearers.

Surviving are his stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Hannasch, Bellechester, Minn.; brother Gerald Kraus, Des Moines; half brothers Mike Hannasch, Sioux City; Tom Hannasch, Houston, Tex.; Mark Hannasch, Cedar Falls; Richard Hannasch, Ames; Jim and Roch Hannasch, at home in Bellechester, Minn.; half sisters Mrs. Gary (Jane) Walter, Ames, and Mary Hannasch, Rochester, Minn.; grandparents Mrs. Elizabeth Kraus and Anna Wittry, Carroll, and Leota Hannasch, Tracy, Minn.

Mr. Kraus was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph Kraus and Jacob Wittry; father Clarence Kraus in 1952; half brother Patrick Hannasch in 1978 and half sister Theresa Marie in 1965.

He was born at Carroll March 30, 1950, a son of Clarence and Joan Wittry Kraus. He graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1968 at Kuemper High School in Carroll and attended Iowa State University at Ames for three years. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Iowa State and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had lived in Omaha for about six years.
