Julius John "Juke" Boes 1907-1986

Julius (Juke) Boes, 79, of rural Breda, died Tuesday, May 6, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Friday, May 9, at St. Bernard Church in Breda, with the Rev. Thomas Munn as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Boes is survived by his wife, Myrtle, Breda; five daughters: Mrs. Raymond (Ardys Ann) Collins, Scranton; Mrs. Merle (Wilma Jean) Pudenz, Lake View; Mrs. Mary Jo Thayer, Olathe, Kan.; Mrs. Terry (Audrey Lou) Johnson, Bode; and Mrs. Douglas (Muriel Hiner, Omaha; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers: William Boes, Breda; Cletus Boes, Carroll; and Romain Boes, Carroll; and a sister, Mer. Henry (Eleanora) Steinkamp, Carroll.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and four brothers, the Rev. Norbert, Leonard, Herbert and Aloys Boes.

Mr. Boes was born on February 16, 1907, at Carnarvon, Iowa, a son of John and Anna Geier Boes. He spent his young years in the Carnarvon and Wall Lake communities where he attended county school and St. Bernard School in Breda.

On August 11, 1931, he was married to Myrtle Grabner at St. Bernard's Church in Breda by the Rev. E.L. Schleyer. After their marriage the couple made their home on the farm two and a half miles north of Breda which is there current residence.

He was a member of St. Bernard parish, the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Third Order of St. Francis.
