Galen Schwery 1938-1979 The Carroll Herald, August 1979 Funeral services for Galen Schwery, 40, were held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Vail at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Mr. Schwery, whose wife was the former Betty Nieland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nieland, died Sunday, August 5 at Bishop Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. Pallbearers were Wayne Anderson, LeRoy Kasperson, Fred Klink, Joe Mueggenberg, Alvin Greve and Ray Sigwalt. Mr. Schwery is survived by his wife, two sons: Gary and Steve, and four daughters: Renee, Julie, Cindy and Debbie, all at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Schwery; five brothers: Mark and Roger, Vail; John, Des Moines; Richard, Quimby; and Dale, Tucson, Ariz., and two sisters: Mrs. Virgil (Nancy) Hugeback, Denison and Mrs. Jerry (Carol) Vonnahme. Galen Schwery was born August 25, 1938 and was married to Betty Nieland on Sept. 12, 1959 at St. Bernard Church in Breda.
