Carroll—Florentine A. Schettler, 95, of Carroll, died Sunday night, March 26, 2006, at her home following a long illness.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with the Rev. Timothy Schott presiding. Lectors will be Bridget Galindo, Melanie Schettler and Ann Schmitz. Gift bearers will be Donna Culbertson, Christina Kantor, Barb Dierks, Karla Nyren, Lisa Schettler, Patti Bendgen and Nancy Payne. Server will be Alex Schmitz. Eucharistic ministers will be Leo and Kathleen Schettler and Bob Bendgen.

Casket bearers will be Mike Kraus, Dan Schettler, Rod Schettler, Don Carsey, Greg Schettler, Tony Schettler, Martin Schettler and Matt Carsey. Honorary casket bearers will be Ron Schettler, Jared Schettler, David Schettler, Mark Schettler, Adam Schettler and Aaron Schettler. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will have an honor guard.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery at Mount Carmel.

Visitation starts at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anthony Hospice in lieu of flowers.

A daughter of John and Agnes (Bruch) Stork, she was born Sept. 13, 1910, at Mount Carmel, attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and spent most of her life in the community.

She and Leonard Schettler were married Sept. 18, 1934, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel.

They farmed three miles northwest of Carroll until 1968, when they retired and moved to Carroll.

Mrs. Schettler was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Ladies Guild, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and the Rosary Makers Club. She enjoyed needlework, making rosaries, gardening, cooking, playing cards and reading.

Survivors include seven children: Mary Lou Kraus and her husband, Merle, of Anita, Don Schettler and his wife, Vera, of Omaha, Neb., Marvin Schettler and his wife, Fran, of Storm Lake, John Schettler and his wife, Mary, of Red Oak, Norman Schettler and his wife, Diane, of Carroll, Leo Schettler and his wife, Kathleen, of Denver, Colo., and Elaine Rust and her husband, Paul, of Omaha; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sister Myrene Stork FSPA and Sister Muriel Stork FSPA, both of La Crosse, Wis.; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Colette Grote of Carroll, Sister Lucille Schettler FSPA of La Crosse, Rita and Fred Lorenz of Omaha and Ray and Rita Schettler of Breda.

Mrs. Schettler was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, in 1987; a granddaughter, Susan Schettler; a daughter-in-law, Edna Schettler; three brothers: Carl, Norbert, and Erwin Stork; a brother, Albert Stork, in infancy; and three sisters, Clara Schettler, Lenore Wess, and Annette Schapman.
