Edmund J. Boes 1918-1987

Mass of the Christian Burial for Edmund J. Boes, 68, of Breda, was celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. Mr. Boes died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Nov. 10, 1987, at his residence of an apparent heart condition.

Mass was con-celebrated by the Revs. Thomas Munn and Marvin Boes. Lector for the Mass was Dorothy Heisterkamp. Gift bearers were granddaughters Tamara, Tara and Tasha Stark. Mass servers were Glen Pudenz, Greg Pudenz and Jon Tiefenthaler. Eucharistic ministers were Earl Boes, Albert, Boes, Raymond Boes and Urban Schulte.

Burial was made in St. Bernard Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fred F. and Norman J. Bruning Post 607 of Breda.

Born on Dec. 16, 1918, in Breda, Mr. Boes was a son of Theodore and Anna (Schulte) Boes. He spent his lifetime in the Breda area, where he attended St. Bernard Schools.

He entered the Army in December 1941 and served in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He was honorably discharged in October 1945 and received the Bronze Star.

On April 30, 1946, he was married to Wilma Pudenz at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel by the Rev. Peter M. Sturm. Following their marriage the couple farmed 1 ½ miles northwest of Breda and in 1958 moved to a farm three miles northeast of Breda.

Mr. Boes is survived by his wife Wilma of Breda; one daughter, Carol and her husband Gary Stark of Carroll; two sons, Gary Boes of Denver, CO, and Larry Boes of New York, NY; three granddaughters, Tamara, Tara and Tasha Stark of Carroll, three brothers, Albert Boes of Breda, Raymond Boes of Wall Lake and Earl Boes of Breda; three sisters; Philomena Thelen of Carroll, Mrs. Fred (Mathilda) Thelen of Breda and Mrs. Rose Ludwig of Carroll; and two sister-in-law, Mathilda Boes of Breda and Florence Boes of Carroll.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Clemens, Tony and Clarence Boes.
