Betty Lou Becker 1958-1985

Betty Lou Becker, 26, of Ames, formerly of Carroll and Glidden, died early Monday, September 9, in Ames. She had been employed by Iowa State University in Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 12, at St. Paul Lutheran church in Carroll with the Rev. David Fechner, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Lake City cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Pat Young, Jeff Becker, William Becker Jr., Dennis Becker, Gary Wolterman and David Becker.

Friends and relatives may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 a.m. Thursday where Miss Becker will lie in state until time of services. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Miss Becker is survived by her father and step-mother, Robert and Joanne Becker. Glidden, Don and Brad Becker, Norfolk, Va.: two stepbrothers; Jon Burke, San Antonio, Tex., and Michael Burke, Laredo, Tex.: a step-sister Mrs. Ron (Cheryl) Becker, Glidden, and grandparents William Becker, Dunlap, and Mrs. Clarence Clark, Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her mother Phyllis in 1966, a step-brother David Burke, and grandparents, Mrs. William Becker and Clarence Clark.

Betty Lou Becker was born at Atlantic, Iowa, on May 23, 1958, a daughter of Robert and Phyllis Clark Becker. She spent most of her life in the Glidden and Carroll areas and attended Glidden-Ralston schools, graduating from high school in 1977.

After her graduation, she attended Des Moines Area Community College in Boone for two years and since that time had lived in Ames.
