Lots of Luck to Paul Mueggenborg

STILLWATER—Family and friends of Paul Mueggenborg gathered July 1 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Stillwater for a 90th birthday Mass and luncheon.

Five of his children attended the event, including Msgr. Daniel Mueggenborg, who was home from the North American College in Rome and concelebrated the Mass with Father Stuart Crevcoure, St. John’s new pastor.

Mr. Mueggenborg, a long-time Stillwater resident, is a Knight of Columbus 4th degree and also is a Knight of St. Gregory the Great, an honor bestowed on Catholic men and women in recognition for their service to the Church or for the example they have set in their communities.

The honor is granted by the pope, and Mr. Mueggenborg received the order about 40 years ago. He remembers the title was given to seven or eight men from Kingfisher and Okarche and that the ceremony was held when the seminary was built in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Mueggenborg said he considers his knighthood a great honor and that he has "a 2-inch deal, the thing you put on your jacket." He added that he's supposed to wear the lapel pin for certain occasions, but he chucked and admitted that he has never worn it.
