Sister Florina's 50th Year

Sr. Florina Observes Her Fiftieth Year
Sr.
M. Florina of LaCrosse, Wis., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Nieland of Breda, celebrated her golden jubilee as a Franciscan
sister Sunday, June 20, at St. Rose Convent, LaCrosse. The former
Elizabeth Nieland, she was born ad reared at Breda.
Four Nuns Honored
A jubilee high mass in the Maria Angelorum chapel
at St. Rose Convent honored Sr. M. Florina and three other nuns,
tow of whom celebrated their golden jubilees and one, her silver
jubilee.
One of the other golden jubilarians was Sr. M. Agnetis,
former superior of St. Angela Academy here, who at present is
director of St. Francis Hospital choir at LaCrosse.
Sr. Florina, who was on the nursing staff of St.
Anthony Hospital in Carroll several years, was director of St.
Francis Hospital School of Nursing from 1930 to 1948. She has
seen, and has been instrumental in, much of the progress which
has been made in elevating nursing standards and nursing education
locally and on a state level. She is now in partial retirement.
Brothers, Sisters
Sr. Florina has six brothers and four sisters living.
One of her sisters is Sr. M. Sigmunda, also of LaCrosse....
