Henry J. Nieland, 86, of the Breda community, died at 11:10 p.m., August 16, 1957 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. He had been a patient since August 12. The family home is a farm southwest of Breda.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's church. Rev. Wm. Ortman officiated at the Mass. Burial was at St. Bernard cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Bruning, Ben Schwabe, Clarence Tiefenthaler, Wm. Berning, Joe Berning and Ben Wempe.

Mr. Nieland was born in Germany April 14, 1871. He married Agnes Ahrling on February 13, 1900.

Survivors include his wife Agnes, two sons, Leo and Lawrence, two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Huegerich (Cecilia) and Mary; one brother Ben Nieland of St. Cloud, MN.; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
